More information about Rancho Bernardo

Rancho Bernardo is a community in San Diego County to the north of Mira Mesa, between Carmel Valley and Poway. The 15 freeway runs right through the middle of Rancho Bernardo, allowing it great freeway access. The topography of Rancho Bernardo consists of rolling hills and large canyons.

Rancho Bernardo, commonly referred to as RB by locals, and was originally founded in 1789 when the land was still Spanish-owned. Surprisingly, this fact has little influence on the design of the community, which is made up of mostly tract homes, golf courses and shopping malls. Rancho Bernardo is slightly famous for having the first ever Japanese factory in the United States, owned by Sony Corporation, and still running today. The community received more attention during the 2007 Witch Creek fire when a large portion of Rancho Bernardo was destroyed. The community has sense recovered and installed many fire-prevention utilities.
